You know, it doesn't hurt to get a bit of sunshine around here

Special wishes go to my step-dad who is having his third heart operation today. Since it's been 10 months after the sudden heart attack in October last year, he's been keeping steady for the last 7 months and has coped it well. Though not without a few problems; he must avoid intense heat (from the kitchen and the like) and he must not mow the lawn at all. This leads to panic attacks due to a connection between the brain and the heart somewhat but mostly he's been okay not to put himself in so much stress.

Visit to Cambridge

I already spent my holiday this year. Last week I spent 4 days in Cambridge (UK), one of the most culturally vast places I ever been to. In fact my step-dad studied there in the Sixties and he really didn't want me to miss out by taking me down there for my first visit. The biggest highlight for us was the punting trip down the river that runs through the city. It was just like being the gondolier in Venice, though there was a big chance of falling into the water if your pole gets stuck or you lose balance on the end of the boat. I didn't fall in unfortanately but Don did last summer. You had to be there to experience it at least but wouldn't you think, with all these 'punting' signs advertised around Cambridge no one has managed to deface that first letter, if you know what I mean? ;) Nah, it's a very friendly place. You can't help to NOT cause any trouble there unless you're local.

Did bring my laptop down but only used it for 2 nights as the nightlife in the city grabbed me by the throat. Not an overt fan of cocktails but I had a great coconut rum drink in 'The Slug and Lettuce' bar. The folk rarely cuss and got too drunk to stay up. Too bad there's nothing like that where I live... now I still have a possible place to look for work in two years' time.

Now I've nothing more to say!
