+EDIT+

Hey, I'm happy to say that I have indeed passed my referral and am on course for my final graduate year for Multimedia! T'was a bit of an arse waiting for the reply and it just came today. That sort of lifted my spirits up towards the end of the month.

As for my soundless laptop, I'm not gonna bother with repairing it at somewhere like PCWorld or even attempt to fix it myself anymore. Well I mean, about 3 times or even twice as much of the price for repairing just the sound system of this thing could buy me a newer, cheaper lappy in the months to come; I won't even press my buddies or parents on this subject until they do and then I can find a new one. Still, I have at least 4 more years of education ahead of me... simply keep my old lappy to store spare files.
So what, I can get my YouTube jollies from my Wii any day!!

+End of EDIT+

Stoopid ol' me broke the sound system in my laptop an hour ago, so maybe now it's a matter of time before it barely functions at all. It's 4 years old, you see. I'll get it fixed tomorrow; no sweat. Honestly ^^;

A lot of interesting things has happened to me since June, not to mention my silly lil' car accident exactly one day after my last day in term. Four months is really a long time to take a break from university. That's a third of a year I had off and the only way to get through it all is to 'grin and bear it' as they say.

Some cheering up is at hand here. ^^

If the sound on the laptop doesn't work, maybe the wires going to the speaker got severed somehow. That happens a lot to audio wires for some reason, it's really surprising.

I remember when my power jack pin broke in my laptop and the only way to get to it was to take apart the whole damn thing. I bought a new power jack for it and got to solder it in and everything but putting it back together again was a real pain and we ended up making it even worse than it was. Just wasn't worth it in the end.

Speaker wires, though, those usually don't require much dissecting. I'd at least take a peek if I were you.

The wires certainly got jammed; I had a pair of headphones connected so when my lappy fell off the desk, the plug was damaged. Then I took a paper clip and prodded the hole here and there hoping to give off some sound. However, that disrupts the power device inside the computer, causing it to shut down without actually pressing the power button no matter how many times I wanted to pry. So really I only damaged the output of the audio.

No sound will play even without a peripheral. :(

Hmm...I see... I'm guessing the audio component, when damaged, might have also damaged the speaker wires as well which might explain why even the built-in speakers won't work.

Yeah, I guess you're better off getting a whole new laptop if your current one is kinda old anyway. Still a shame that it could've lasted a little longer but at least now's a good time to get a new computer.
